These days singer Rikke Mølgaard is exactly where she wants to be. Her debut album, One Side Of Me, is finally out. And now the word is out: Rikke Mølgaard is finally flying solo. It’s been a long time coming, but now one of Denmark’s best kept singing secrets is ready to show the rest of the world what she can do with that dark, rich voice melting through soulful and jazzy songs. Born in Horsens – a small town famous for having Paul McCartney, Elton John, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones come and play – in 1973 Rikke Mølgaard’s upbringing was all about music and singing. At one time in school she found herself in 7 different bands. Her first big break came when the former leading star of Les Miserables’ London cast, Stig Rossen, discovered Rikke singing in a café and invited her to appear as a guest star on his forthcoming tour. Since then Rikke Mølgaard hasn’t looked back and has now worked as a professional singer for 10 years, known for her versatility and ability to sing most musical genres from pop and rock to jazz and soul. Rikke Mølgaard has toured as a special guest of Eurovision Song Contest-winner, Johnny Logan, as well as Lady In Red-singer, Chris De Burgh. Another major achievement is the leading part in the musical Made In Aarhus as well as being a featured artist in the sold-out show, Finn & Co, which ran for a staggering five months. Rikke Mølgaard has earned her jazz chops with both RadioUnderholdningsOrkestret and the famous Tivoli Big Band. Numerous TV-appearances has also helped make Rikke Mølgaard a household name in Denmark. With a musical resumé like that, you never know what Rikke Mølgaard is going to do next. But for now her mission statement is clear: Getting the world to listen to her new labor of love, One Side Of Me. |
